JUNEAU, Wis. -- The Dodge County Sheriff's Office arrested two people in separate pursuits over the weekend.

The first pursuit occurred on Friday just before 7:30 p.m. where a deputy on patrol passed the intersection of County Highway M and Juneau Street in the Town of Emmet near Watertown. A driver had been stopped at the stop sign and shortly after the squad car passed by, the driver allegedly squealed their tires as left the stop sign, then overtook the fully marked squad car at a high rate of speed.

The deputy reportedly attempted to stop the driver, which accelerated to speeds of 100 mph, while at times, allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road and turning off its headlights and taillights. The pursuit ended nearly six miles in the Town of Clyman when the driver pulled over on his own and was taken into custody.

A 22-year-old man was arrested for a felony-level fleeing an officer, along with operating while under the influence of an intoxicant and several traffic citations, including operating without a valid driver's license. Charges were requested with the Dodge County Sheriff's Office.

A second incident occurred on Sunday at about 2:30 a.m. where a sheriff's reportedly deputy saw a driver operating on the wrong side of the street, nearly striking parked vehicles, at speeds nearly double the speed limit in the City of Juneau.

The deputy allegedly attempted to stop the driver, who reportedly increased their speed to well over 25 mph speed limit on city streets.

The sheriff's office said the pursuit eventually left the city westbound on County Highway W at speeds over 100 mph, with head and taillights reportedly turned off, at times and on the wrong side of the road.

Later, the pursuit ended when the driver left the road and struck some wooden cribbing, which had been placed near a utility pole for work being done. The crash occurred on County Highway W near High Point Road. The truck started on fire and the fire department, ambulance were immediately requested at the scene. Deputies cleared the inside of the truck, which reportedly no longer had anyone inside of it.

The driver, a 23-year-old Reeseville man was allegedly found lying on the ground near the truck. He was later taken to an area hospital for treatment and later brought to the Dodge County Jail.

Charges were requested for OWI third offense, operating after revocation, failing to have an ignition interlock device installed, as well as felony fleeing an officer.
