Dealers and exhibitors have now been confirmed for an upcoming electric vehicle (EV) open day in Kendal.

Westmorland and Furness Council is hosting the event, titled GO EV!(Get Onboard with Electric Vehicles), this Saturday (October 18) from 10am to 2pm at Kendal Leisure Centre on Burton Road.

Designed to promote the benefits of electric and hybrid vehicles, the event will feature test drives, industry talks, and advice on charging infrastructure.

Councillor Peter Thornton, cabinet member for highways and ICT for Westmorland and Furness Council, said: "We're delighted to confirm such a fantastic line-up of dealers and exhibitors for GO EV!

"It really adds to the excitement and shows just how much choice is now available for residents and businesses, whether you're curious about switching your everyday car, looking for a family car, or something to suit your budget and needs.

"It promises to be an enjoyable, relaxed day where everyone can learn, ask questions, and even take a test drive or two."

Confirmed exhibitors include Lloyd Motor Group (BMW, MINI, Kia, Volvo), Cox Motor Group (MG, Xpeng), Barton Townley (Nissan) and Vertu Carlisle (Vauxhall, Peugeot).

Cumbria Van Centre (Skywell BE-11), Vantage Morecambe (Škoda), DSG Ltd (Renault) and Just Motor (Citroën, Hyundai) will also be exhibiting.

Visitors will be able to test drive a variety of EVs, speak with dealers, and learn from industry experts about the latest developments in EV tech including home and workplace charging options.

To take part in the test drives, attendees must be over 21, hold a full UK driving licence for at least two years, and bring their UK photo card licence.

Attendees will also need a printed Personal Driving Licence Check and a GET A CODE reference which can be created online at www.viewdrivingrecord.service.gov.uk/driving-record/licence-number.

National Insurance numbers must also be provided.

Test drives will last around 10 minutes and follow a set route.

Councillor Giles Archibald, cabinet member for climate, biodiversity, and environmental services, said: "We're grateful to all the dealers and partners who are coming along to support the event and help people explore electric vehicles first-hand.

"Their participation means visitors can speak to experts, try a range of vehicles, and get a real feel for what electric transport can offer.

"It's a great opportunity to see how EVs could fit into everyday life, whether for home, work, or leisure."

Exhibitors will also include Futureproof Cumbria, Create Energy Ltd, and Electricity North West, offering guidance on charging infrastructure.

The event is part of the council's Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy which aims to promote EV adoption.

GO EV! is supported by Let's Experience Electric and includes free car and cycle parking, as well as regular bus services to and from Kendal and Oxenholme.

Booking is required for those wishing to take part in test drives.
