Triad motorists wanting to clean up their act -- vehicle-wise that is -- can do it for free for a limited time this week courtesy of the renovated Zips Car Wash locations in Clemmons and Greensboro.

Free car washes will be offered on Tuesday at the chain's Greensboro locations at 2109 Pyramids Village Blvd. and 2300 Battleground Ave. A ribbon-cutting event is set for 11:30 a.m.

Meanwhile, the Clemmons location at 6317 Stadium Drive will offer free car washes on Wednesday. Its ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. Business hours on Wednesday are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

"These investments are benefiting both teams and customers, and the Greensboro and Clemmons communities are invited to try the upgraded services on us," Zips chief executive Pete Nani said.

At each ribbon cutting, Zips recognizes a local military family with a $500 academic scholarship through its national partnership with Folds of Honor.

Zips, based in Plano, Texas, also has Triad locations at 3910 Oxford Station Way and 5211 University Parkway in Winston-Salem, 2806 Patterson St. in Greensboro and 2608 S Main St. in High Point.

The company has more than 300 locations in 20 states under the Zips, Rocket Express Car Wash and Jet Brite Car Wash brands. The chain has upgraded 26 locations in five states over the past four months.
