Already thinking about holiday shopping? Amazon is way ahead of you. The retailer just announced that its Prime Big Deal Days sale (a.k.a. October Prime Day) is back this fall from Oct. 7 to 8. During the 48-hour event, Prime members can save on gifts, festive decor and hosting essentials, as well as everyday items across categories. This is Amazon's biggest sale before Black Friday and Cyber Monday -- you won't want to miss it, especially if tariffs are currently impacting your budget.

I've been covering Amazon sales for NBC Select since 2020, so I'm well-versed in Prime Big Deal Days. I'll continue updating you as we learn more about what to expect -- below is all the information we have so far.

Prime Big Deal Days is Amazon's second Prime Day-level sale of the year. It's the retailer's way of kicking off the holiday shopping season -- some brands now start their Black Friday sales as early as October to give you time to spread out your spending, a trend Amazon jumped on in 2022, the first year it hosted Prime Big Deal Days (previously called the Prime Early Access Sale).

Similar to July's event, only Prime members have access to discounts during Prime Big Deal Days. Many brands drop prices to their lowest of the season, and the sale is typically 48 hours long.

Prime Big Deal Days 2025 is happening from Oct. 7 to 8. The sale starts on Oct. 7 at 12:01 a.m. PDT and ends on Oct. 8 at 11:59 p.m. PDT.

Yes, only Prime members get access to exclusive discounts during October Prime Day. You can sign up for a Prime membership on Amazon's website or app. New members get a 30-day free trial -- Amazon automatically charges you for your Prime membership once the free trial period ends.

Yes, Prime members can shop for early deals as the event approaches. The best way to stay updated about early October Prime Day deals is to download the Amazon app, which can notify you about discounts in real-time.

Products across all shopping categories are on sale during Prime Big Deal Days, but shoppers won't know exactly what's available until the event starts. The best deals tend to be on giftable items, like tech, toys, luxury beauty, small kitchen appliances and gift cards, as well as festive decor and hosting essentials, including dinnerware, cookware and paper goods.

Additionally, Amazon deeply discounts items from brands it owns during October Prime Day, like Echo, Fire, Blink, Ring and Amazon Basics. You'll be able to shop Amazon's Lightning Deals, too. These are flash sales that give shoppers a short window to purchase limited quantities of specific products.

I believe everyone should have one of Bissell's carpet and upholstery cleaners at home, especially if you're prone to accidents or have pets and kids. Amazon also offers two types of discounted accounts: Prime for Young Adults, which is $7.49 a month for those 18 to 24 years old, and Prime Access, which is $6.99 a month for those who qualify for certain government assistance programs.

Benefits of a Prime membership include access to shop discounts during Prime Day and Prime Big Deal Days, plus free, fast shipping, like free two-day, one-day and same-day delivery. Prime members also get a handful of streaming and entertainment perks, plus they can order groceries online through Whole Foods or Amazon Fresh and sign up for a free Grubhub+ membership.
