Phase 7 of BusConnects will be rolled out this weekend - and is being described as "the most geographically expansive phase" to date.

Nine new bus routes and three new 24-hour services are being introduced, while ten legacy routes will no longer operate from Sunday, October 19. Communities from Ballymun and Finglas over the northside to Tallaght and Templeogue on the southside will be primarily affected, with Glasnevin, Marino, Rathmines, Palmerstown, Liffey Valley, Walkinstown, Kimmage, Broombridge, and the city centre also set for changes this Sunday.

Bus service levels in these areas should increase by over 14 per cent as a result of these changes, according to the National Transport Authority. Three new routes - the F1, F2, and 80 - will be 24-hour, aiming to "enhance connectivity across the capital and support Dublin's growing night-time economy", say the NTA.

Several existing routes will be withdrawn, including the 9, 26, 40, 40b, 49, 54a, 83, 83a, 123, and 140. There are also changes to the 122, which will be diverted via Galtymore Road in Drimnagh, and the 150, which will be realigned to serve Greenhills College via Limekiln Road and Limekiln Avenue.

The NTA and Dublin Bus have also today announced the opening of a new state-of-the-art bus depot on Jamestown Road in Finglas. The NTA say: "This facility will play a key role in enabling future growth and enhancing the sustainability of public transport in the city.

"Initially home to a fleet of 86 vehicles, the depot will operate with 93 drivers across 35 daily routes in its initial phase, contributing to a cleaner, more efficient transport network. With 178 dedicated bus parking bays on site, the depot is well-equipped to support both current operations and any future service expansion."

Minister for Transport Darragh O'Brien said: "Phase 7 of BusConnects is a major step forward in delivering the Programme for Government's commitment to better, more sustainable public transport. With expanded services and new 24-hour routes, we're connecting more communities, supporting the night-time economy, and making it easier for people to choose public transport.

"This is real progress towards a cleaner, more accessible Dublin."

Route changes

From October 19th, the following routes will no longer operate:

Routes 9, 26, 40, 40b, 49, 54a, 83/a 123, and 140.

From October 19th, the following existing routes will be amended:

Route 122 will divert via Galtymore Road instead of Mourne Road.

The following stops will no longer be in use:

Stops 1418, 1417, 1415 and 1413 towards Drimnagh.

Stops 1427, 1428, 1429, 1430 and 1432 towards Ashington.

Route 150 will divert to Greenhills College, instead of Rossmore

The revised alignment will operate via Limekiln Road and Limekiln Avenue serving stops 2323, 1095, 1096, 1111, 1110, 1109, 1108, 1107, 1105, 1104, 1103, 1102 and 1101.

Route 150 will no longer serve stops 100, 1100, 1099 and 1097 on Wellington Road, stops 4578, 4577 and 6132 on Wellington Lane and stops 4861, 4864, 4862 and 4863 on Rossmore Road.

Revised timetables

There are revised timetables on Route 16 and 27b from Sunday 19 October 2025. There are no route changes for routes 16 and 27b.
