Rashtriya Janata Dal leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Friday (September 19, 2025) hit back at Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his statement that Mr. Yadav would not dare to contest elections in the future.

Mr. Yadav resumed his 'Bihar Adhikar Yatra' on the fourth day from Madhepura and reached the Simri Bakhtiyarpur Assembly seat in Saharsa district, where he addressed a public meeting.

Taking a dig at Mr. Shah, the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly said, "Since there is an election in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shahji frequently visit the State these days. My dear Modiji and Amit Shahji, don't you know that I am the son of Lalu [Prasad] who had once arrested your boss L.K. Advani in Bihar? Tejashwi Yadav is not afraid of your hollow threat. The people of Bihar have given me the power and they are the real masters."

Addressing Bharatiya Janata Party workers in Begusarai on Thursday, Mr. Shah had said that the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) majority in Bihar Assembly would soon be so strong that Mr. Yadav would not even dare to contest the next election.

Mr. Shah had visited Patna and met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday (September 18) along with Janata Dal (United) working president Sanjay Jha and senior Cabinet Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary.

Before Begusarai, he had addressed people of Shahabad and Magadh regions, where he had accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of undertaking the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' to save "Bangladeshi infiltrators".

However, Mr. Yadav called the BJP a communal party trying to destroy the social harmony of the country.

Accompanied by local RJD MLA Yusuf Salahuddin, Mr. Yadav claimed the INDIA bloc will form the government in Bihar and every youth will then have a degree and a job.

"There should be a people's government where quick action is taken on any wrongdoing but the Chief Minister of Bihar is unconscious and he does not know what happens around him. PM Modi and Amit Shahji are running the government from Delhi," Mr. Yadav said. As he spoke, RJD supporters continuously shouted slogans hailing him as the next Chief Minister of Bihar.

He alleged that without accepting bribes, no work of the common man was being done at the block, panchayat and division levels. He claimed that corruption and crime have increased manifold in Bihar ever since the NDA government came to power.

"Bureaucracy has captured the entire State and dictatorship prevails in Bihar, where poor people are denied their basic rights," Mr. Yadav said, while addressing the public meeting from a modified bus.

From Simri Bakhtiyarpur, he travelled to five more Assembly constituencies - Mahisi, Rosra, Vibhutipur, Ujiarpur and Samastipur -- before making a night halt at the Samastipur district guest house.
