Rhode Island is getting hit with a fall Nor'easter, capable of knocking out power.

The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood advisory for Monday, Oct. 13, when the brunt of the rain and wind is expected.

There most likely won't be a dry moment at any point on Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples' Day, so it's not-so-good news for those with outdoor holiday activities in mind.

"Strong northeast winds, wind-swept rains, minor coastal flooding, and bluff and beach erosion remain expected," the NWS office in Norton, Mass., said in a Facebook post.

The storm formed off the Georgia coast late last week, according to AccuWeather.

Coastal flood advisory in effect in Rhode Island

A coastal flood advisory is in effect in Rhode Island from noon to 4 p.m. on Oct. 13, according to the National Weather Service.

Newport and Washington counties, including Block Island, could experience up to a half-foot of flooding above ground level in low-lying areas, NWS said.

If you have to drive, allow some extra time because some roads may be closed due to water, the weather service said. Don't drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth, NWS said.

Providence weather forecast

The bulk of the storm will hit on the Columbus Day holiday.

Rain is expected all day in Providence on Monday, Oct. 13, and a thunderstorm is possible after 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The city will experience winds of 18 to 20 mph with gusts as high as 34 mph.

Showers will carry into Tuesday, Oct. 14, with patchy fog in the first half of the day, NWS said. You can expect winds of around 14 mph with gusts as high as 24 mph.

It'll still be wet Tuesday night before the precipitation starts to let up on Wednesday, Oct. 15, according to the NWS. It'll be mostly sunny, with a slight chance of showers in the evening.

Sun will shine through again on Thursday, Oct. 16, and Friday, Oct. 17, the weather service said.

And the weekend? Dry, according to NWS.
