Two teens arrested and charged after attempted theft in Linlithgow

Two teens have been arrested and charged in connection to an attempted theft in Linlithgow, West Lothian.

Police were called to a property on Blackness Road at around 10:40 on Sunday morning and arrested a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy.

The 19-year-old is due to face court at a later date and the boy will be reported to relevant authorities.

Sergeant Craig Simpson says that the investigation is still ongoing but thanks members of the public and police staff for their cooperation and assistance during the incident.

He also encourages those who may have any information to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1131, on Sunday 12 October.

The teenagers have both been charged with public disturbance and attempted theft, as police caught the offenders before anything was taken from the property.

Young people being brought into crimes like theft and public disturbance is leading to Scotland's increasing crime rate and creates a greater threat to the wider public.

Police operation seizes dozens of stolen vehicles and over £300k worth of drugs

A police operation has led to dozens of stolen vehicles and over £300,000 worth of drugs being removed from the streets.

On Thursday 9 October police recovered 23 stolen vehicles and seized class A drugs from a business unit in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian.

Acting under warrant, the officers entered the unit within Sherwood industrial estate and searched over 100 containers.

After seizing four stolen cars, 14 stolen motorbikes and four stolen quadbikes, police found mass quantities of cocaine and cannabis with an estimated street value of over £230,000.

The following day, police recovered a further 11 vehicles and seized another £97,000 worth of cocaine and cannabis from a property in Newbattle, Midlothian.

Combined, these raids amount to over £300,000 of class A drugs and 34 stolen vehicles, involving officers from Edinburgh, Midlothian and Forth Valley, who came together to combat organised crime.

Two men - aged 28 and 23 have been charged in relation to the seizures and are due to appear in court soon.

Detective chief inspector Barry McDaid said: "Both of these operations have been extremely successful and underline our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country's Serious Organised Crime Strategy."

It has been established that all of the vehicles were stolen from the Midlothian area but their status upon being seized by police is unconfirmed.

Two men arrested and charged following attempted murder in Edinburgh

Two men - aged 28 - have been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted murder on Prestonfield Avenue.

The incident took place at around 9:40pm on Friday 26 September. The victim, a 29-year-old man, was struck down by a van and immediately taken to hospital for treatment.

Emergency services rushed to the scene as the man was found in a critical condition although he is currently in hospital and his condition is unknown.

The alleged hit and run has lead to both men appearing in Edinburgh Sheriff Court and it has been confirmed by Police Scotland that they have both been charged with attempted murder.

Detective constable Joanne Robertson said: "Extensive enquiries were carried out to trace those involved and I would like to thank members of the public who got in touch."

Appeal launched following housebreaking at property in Livingston

Officers are appealing for information following a housebreaking at a property in Livingston, West Lothian.

The incident took place sometime between 4am on Sunday 5 October and 12pm on Sunday 12 October on Deanswood Park, in the Deans area of the town.

After breaking into the property, the offenders took two boxes, a wooden one containing a four-figure sum of cash and a smaller black plastic box containing a three-figure sum of cash.

Police Scotland are strongly encouraging members of the public to come forward with any information they may have regarding the ongoing investigation.

Detective constable Lynn Miles said: "We are asking the public to check private CCTV, doorbell footage and dash-cams to see if they have captured anything that could assist officers."
