ESG forest initiative with Mongolian government and partners to address climate crisis

Yuhan Corporation has launched a global cooperation project to combat desertification in Mongolia and address the climate crisis.

The company announced on the 14th that it attended a launching ceremony for a project to restore areas damaged by wildfires and establish forests in Mongolia at the Mongolian National University's practice forest management office in the Batsumber, Batsumber region of Mongolia on the 30th of last month. This event is a follow-up measure to the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed last month in Seoul with the Mongolian government, the Asia Forest Cooperation Organization, AFoCO, and the local non-governmental organization Billion Trees, Billion Trees.

Prior to the launching ceremony, Yuhan Corporation held a meeting with Batbaatar Bat, Mongolia's Minister of Environment and Climate Change, to discuss cooperation plans for forest restoration and addressing the climate crisis. The company plans to actively participate in local forest creation projects and collaborate with the Mongolian National University to restore the ecosystem of areas damaged by wildfires.

This project aims to go beyond simple tree planting and establish a sustainable forest management system based on scientific research and community participation. It is expected to become a representative case of global ESG (environmental, social, and governance) cooperation, where private companies, governments, and international organizations join forces.
