Composer of 'Golden' OST praises BTS's Jungkook, eyes collaboration with aespa

[OSEN=Ha Su-jeong Reporter] EJAE (Lee Jae), who collaborated on 'KPop Demon Hunters,' named BTS and aespa as K-pop stars he hopes to work with.

A press briefing for the Netflix film 'KPop Demon Hunters' was held at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul on the morning of the 15th. The event was attended by EJAE (Lee Jae), the composer of the mega-hit OST 'Golden' and a singer.

The Netflix film 'KPop Demon Hunters' is an action fantasy animation set in Korea, following the story of K-pop superstars 'Rumi,' 'Mira,' and 'Joy' who secretly serve as hidden heroes protecting the world behind their dazzling stages. Since its premiere on June 20, it has continued to gain explosive popularity and sparked a global phenomenon. After its release, it consistently ranked in the Netflix Global TOP 10 list under the English films category and achieved a record of topping the Billboard Hot 100 for eight consecutive weeks with its OST 'Golden.' Additionally, it has received tremendous acclaim for its addictive music, details infused with unique Korean culture, and its original genre of 'K-pop exorcism action.'

Notably, Korean-American Lee Jae spent over 10 years as a trainee at SM Entertainment before focusing on composing. Aside from 'Golden,' he also composed Red Velvet's 2019 hit 'Psycho.'

Regarding his recent activities, Lee Jae said, "I'm so overwhelmed that I don't even have time to process my schedule. I'm just grateful and happy. Two months ago, I was just a composer. Suddenly receiving so much love feels unfamiliar. I'm trying to adapt."

When asked, "Which K-pop star would you like to collaborate with?" he replied, "There are so many. In K-pop, I'd love to work with aespa. I really want to collaborate and compose with them -- they'd be a perfect fit. And BTS is also amazing. Working with them would be such an honor. The members are incredible, especially Jungkook, who sings so beautifully. I really admire him," revealing his fandom.

Meanwhile, 'KPop Demon Hunters' surpassed 300 million views on Netflix, breaking the record previously held by 'Squid Game,' and attention is focused on whether it will win the Academy Award for Best Original Song at next year's ceremony.
