Nicole Kidman is just fine. Or at least that's the message the newly single Oscar-winner seemed to be projecting in Paris this week as she arrived at the Chanel show.

As far as statements went, the message was clear -- the 58-year-old wasn't stuck on the sofa, licking her wounds and self-pityingly powering her way through clichéd tubs of Haagen Daaz over the end of her marriage to Keith Urban, but trotting around gay Paree exuding sultry chic.

A new fringe can do that for a gal.

But Kidman was not just in the City of Light to signal just how well she was taking the break-up but in proud mother mode, with 17-year-old daughter Sunday Rose Urban at fashion week to work. There she was on the runway for Jonathon Anderson's debut collection for Dior, glowering her way up the catwalk in a grey shirt and pants.

That photo of Nicole, Sunday Rose and other daughter Faith Margaret confirms that the fashion world has just come to become the latest domino to fall in the great nepo baby takeover.

With the month-long perambulation of fashiony sorts from New York to London to Milan to Paris, les nepos have ruled.

Kai Schreiber walked Jason Wu, Altuzarra, Calvin Klein, COS, Fendi, Moschino, The Attico, Tod's, Courrèges, Mugler, Isabel Marant, Ann Demeulemeester and Valentino. Vanity Fair has decreed her the "main character" and "star" of the month-long fashion caravan that moved around the US and Europe. Schreiber is the 16-year-old daughter of our own Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber.

Then London rolled around and Romeo Beckham, Lila Moss, Iris Law and Amelia Gray Hamlin all appeared on the catwalk, along with both Moss and Law prominently appearing at Burberry.

Moss, 22, daughter of Kate, has had a packed fashion month, making her way between the W Magazine party in New York and a red carpet in Barcelona for Spanish brand Desigual alongside Paris Jackson, she was at the premiere of the short film new Gucci designer Demna showed to kick off Milan fashion week, and was in Paris for les shows avec her very famous model mother.

What this latest fashion month has proved is that the style world now follows Hollywood, music, tech and even politics where so many of the rising names and hottest faces all hail from famous families.

Somehow nepo babies seem to be proliferating, their appearances multiplying as they build momentum across the starry worlds. In just the last couple of months alone ...

Nicole's Faith Margaret, 14, appeared in the actress' first ad for Clé de Peau Beauté.

In August, Sunday Rose landed her major solo magazine profile and photo shoot. (She's previously also had outings with Miu Miu and Omega.)

Around this time, Violet Affleck, daughter of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, addressed the UN about mask mandates.

In September Apple Martin, daughter of the consciously uncoupled Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin was announced as the face of British label Self-Portrait before she and her mother were tapped for GapStudio's new Autumn campaign.

Euphoria actress Maude Apatow, the eldest daughter of Anchorman and 40-Year-Old Virgin director Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann, cast her actress mother in her first movie which had its world premiere at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival.

Also in September, Chloe Malle, daughter of Candice Bergen and Oscar-winning French director Louis Malle, was named as Anna Wintour's successor as the editor of American Vogue.

After eight years away from the screen, Daniel Day-Lewis returned to star in Anemone, out last month -- his son Roman's directorial debut.

Levi McConaughey has his first major role this month appearing in The Lost Bus -- alongside his father Matthew McConaughey. Levi, 17, appeared in the September issue of Interview magazine with a photo shoot and interview.

When New York goes to the polls next month, there is a very real chance the next mayor of the city will be Zohran Mamdani - a political rocket ship of a candidate and the son of Oscar-nominated director Mira Nair.

Meanwhile, TikTok star Jack Schlossberg, John F Kennedy's grandson and the son of former US Ambassador to Australia Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, has announced he's considering a run for Congress.

Also over on TikTok, there has been a marketing push for an app called Phia whose creator is Phoebe Gates. Can you guess who her famous tech billionaire Pa is? Casey Lewis, a former editor at Teen Vogue and author of the After School Substack, has reported it's being marketed specifically as "Bill Gates' daughter's app."

Yeah, yeah, I know. Nepo babies are hardly a new phenomena -- what is royalty but that same idea played out with a lot more crowns and bloodthirstily rampaging around Scotland when the mood strikes? But it feels like we are in a moment where the rising stars and fresh, new names in so many fields belong to those who have famous, powerful, successful, connected or wealthy parents.

None of this is to deny or diminish the talent or beauty or hard work or creativity of the nepo throng. Also, they can't help who their parents are.

But how much harder, how much steeper of a hill do other actors, models and strivers face when they are going up against a generation who have in-built name recognition, A+ connections, and can snag meetings with studio heads, producers, designers and ad agencies with the ease of ordering an UberEats Erewhon $33.50 smoothie? (True story - that would be the coconut milk, saffron, turmeric, banana, mango, and almond butter number finished with gold dust.)

You have to wonder what sort of chance regular, normie, young, fresh-faced talents stand in Los Angeles or Paris, and even Washington and Silicon Valley.

Still, there's a downside for the nepo babies. They face their achievements and career wins being permanently held up against their parents' glittering CVs and they will have to fight to get out from under their mothers and fathers reputations and brands. They face a slog to be publicly defined and recognised as their own people and not just as so-and-so's child.

As Kai Schreiber's father told TMZ: "I'm gonna put it to you like this: What if you were a professional actor and your child decided they wanted to do something in this world. Do they have the choice of what you did? ... She does what she wants with her life. And I'm super proud of her."

At the rate things are going, we are a long way from seeing the nepo takeover slow down. So I'm sure we will be seeing more of Nicole in Paris and Milan, managing to both chaperone her model daughter ... and handily reminding that Keith what he's missing.
