Shares jump after Lisa posts Heartsping merchandise from SAMG's Teenieping

Shares of SAMG Entertainment, the producer of Teenieping, surged in the morning on the 24th. This is attributed to Lisa from the popular idol group BLACKPINK posting photos of 'Heartsping' merchandise on her social media.

As of 11 a.m. on the 24th, SAMG Entertainment's stock price was trading at 62,300 Korean won on the KOSDAQ market, up 20.27% from the previous day. At one point in the morning, the stock price rose as high as 64,900 Korean won, marking a 25.29% increase.

Lisa, a member of BLACKPINK, posted multiple photos using the Heartsping phone grip on her Instagram the previous day. Heartsping is a character from the animation Catch! Teenieping, produced by SAMG Entertainment. Lisa has 100 million followers on Instagram. The surge is analyzed as a result of buying momentum driven by expectations of natural promotional effects.

Earlier, after Lisa posted photos of the Chinese Pop Mart representative character 'Labubu' keyring doll on her Instagram, search volumes for Labubu spiked, and its resale prices rose to about 30 times the original price, leading to explosive sales growth.

SAMG Entertainment had shown the highest stock price increase among all listed companies, with a 621.92% rise in the first half of this year. Following the success of the movie Heartsping: Teenieping of Love, evaluations emerged that Teenieping had transitioned into a character intellectual property (IP) and entered a phase of substantial profit growth.

However, the stock turned downward in the second half due to concerns over poor performance. The operating profit for the second quarter was 5.4 billion Korean won, maintaining black ink for three consecutive quarters but decreasing by 15% compared to the previous quarter. Forecasts predominated that the third quarter would also see weak performance due to the traditional toy off-season.

The securities industry expects the main driver for SAMG Entertainment's stock price to emerge in the fourth quarter. Kim A-ram, a Shinhan Securities researcher, stated, "The third quarter is a traditional toy off-season, and fixed cost burdens have increased as most of the revenue from collaboration with SM Entertainment will be reflected in the fourth quarter." However, she added, "Season 6 of Catch! Teenieping will begin airing late this month domestically, and we anticipate toy sales in December. Additionally, new goods featuring ESMEPING and further idol collaborations with SM Entertainment are set to be announced."
