Furious residents have vented their rage after being kept up all night by thunderous music blaring from woodland in the Holme Valley in West Yorkshire.

Dozens of locals in and around the Holme Valley flocked to social media to vent about booming drum and bass tracks that hammered out until at least 6am. Some reported their youngsters were left in floods of tears and couldn't get a wink of sleep from 1am onwards.

Livid locals even jumped into their vehicles to cruise around the neighbourhood desperately trying to track down the source of the racket. One furious resident told Yorkshire Live: "It's been going on since midnight.

"Apparently, it's coming from up in a wooded area near Home Moss. The police have been informed but can't do much without a precise location.

"People were driving around in the middle of the night trying to find where the noise was coming from, but couldn't, its echoing everywhere," reports Yorkshire Live.

Incensed residents say the music had been playing for at least six hours, with songs played on repeat.

One couple who went to investigate, walking from Netherton, through Honley to Upperthong say they were stopped by a car.

They said: They said: "A fella pulled up asking if we knew exactly where it was coming from as his two young kids haven't slept at all. Absolute pillocks."

More than 100 people attended the woodland rave, which started in the early hours of Sunday morning, and was still going at 9am.

One man, who was walking his dog near to the rave location, told Yorkshire Live: "I am pi**ed off that the police haven't closed it down.

"Why didn't they close it down at midnight when it started? It has been going on all night. We have been woken up several times from 3am by the bassline.

He also wondered about the litter and the lack of toilet facilities. He wanted to know who will clean up the mess and if the police's actions will only encourage a repeat performance, adding: "Will they (the ravers) come back now that they know it will be allowed?"

People travelled from across the country to attend, with partygoers from Newcastle, Sheffield, Manchester and Skegness making the journey.

Young people from the Holme Valley also turned up, after finding the location by hearing the loud music, which had kept most residents up all night.

Sleep-deprived and raging locals took to social to complain about the deep bass music, while Labour MP Paul Davies backed residents, saying the unauthorised rave had kept folks "awake and distressed".

The Colne Valley MP said: "The disruption caused by the unauthorised rave in Holme Valley is deeply concerning. Residents deserve peace and safety in their own homes, and it's unacceptable that so many were kept awake and distressed throughout the night."
