Ana Paula Belloso Fernandes accused of poisoning, framing victims in calculated killings, police reveal

A Brazilian law student accused of killing at least four people over five months and leaving decomposing bodies in her home for days has shocked the local community.

According to CNN Brazil and other outlets on the 14th, Ana Paula Belloso Fernandes, 36, a law student from São Paulo, was recently arrested on suspicion of murdering at least four people between January and May.

Police revealed that Fernandes stabbed her landlord, Marcelo Hari Fonseca, to death during an argument in January. She then covered the door with cloth to prevent her son and cousin from seeing the body and left it inside the room. When her son complained about the foul odor from the decomposing corpse, she allegedly burned the sofa where the body was to eliminate the smell and clean the room.

Fernandes is also suspected of poisoning Maria Aparecida Rodrigues, whom she met through a dating app in April. Rodrigues was found dead after drinking coffee at Fernandes' home. Investigators discovered that Fernandes forged a note and even made a poisoned cake to frame Rodrigues' ex-boyfriend.

Fernandes faces additional charges for poisoning Neil Coelho da Silva, 65, the father of her classmate Michelle Paiva da Silva, using a poisoned stew. She reportedly received 4,000 Brazilian reais, approximately 1.05 million Korean won, as payment for the crime.

She is also accused of poisoning her Tunisian partner, Haider Mazres, 21. Police believe she lured him by pretending to be pregnant after their breakup and killed him with a poisoned milkshake.

Notably, Fernandes allegedly tested the poison on 10 dogs before committing the murders. Police found a banned insecticide similar to rat poison at her home. Toxicology tests are underway on the four victims' remains, while her twin sister, Roberta Cristina Belloso Fernandes, and friend Michelle have been arrested for allegedly assisting in the crimes.

Police Chief Harrison Ideiao stated, "The 'extremely cunning' suspect derives pleasure from killing. She shows no remorse. She wants to kill people, and if released, she will definitely attempt to kill others."
