Hospital A explains procedures on MBC's I Live Alone were not specialized vitiligo treatments

Controversy arose after it was revealed that the hospital where actor Ko Yoo-hwan, 45, received treatment for vitiligo was a plastic surgery clinic rather than a dermatology clinic. In response, the hospital stated, "We did not provide specialized treatment."

Hospital A posted an official statement on its website on the 11th, saying, "We deeply apologize for the misunderstanding caused. As a medical institution operated by a plastic surgery specialist, Hospital A does not conduct specialized treatment for vitiligo."

The hospital explained, "Actor Ko has been visiting our clinic for over one year and has undergone various laser treatments after consultations. However, we did not provide specialized treatment for vitiligo, only offering advice on his current condition through a skin diagnostic device. Unfortunately, some parts were edited, but we did explain during the consultation process that consistent treatment at a dermatology clinic is necessary for improvement."

It added, "We respected the expertise of dermatologists throughout the filming process, but we apologize for the parts not captured in the video. The procedures shown in the broadcast are not direct treatments for vitiligo."

Hospital A emphasized, "We only performed procedures that do not infringe on the domain of dermatologists and explained to the patient that specialized departments exist and that better methods are available for appropriate treatment. We sincerely respect and thank all dermatologists who are striving to treat vitiligo."

Ko Yoo-hwan appeared on MBC's variety program I Live Alone on the 10th, where he visited Hospital A to receive treatment for vitiligo on his face. After it was revealed that Hospital A is a plastic surgery clinic, not a dermatology clinic, some netizens raised suspicions that the hospital might have treated Ko without proper explanation.
