Week 2 came with the stunners. The Lions are not broken. Daniel Jones could be good (?) now that he's not on the New York Giants. And speaking of the Giants, Jaxson Dart may not be starting anytime soon (or will he?). Week 1 is a little like the preseason, with teams experiencing offseason transitions still finding their way. With each week comes more clarity, and, over time, the data regresses toward some kind of mean.

Here, we discuss that data -- touches, air yards, team target percentage, and more -- the predictive stats that can show how often a player is being utilized by his NFL team to get ahead of future trends. Broken down by skill position, this report analyzes the meaningful metrics that can help you with the waiver wire, start/sit decisions and much more. After each positional breakdown, we've included the full usage report for additional research.

Jared Goff (QB1 in Week 2) is back on fantasy radars, and Daniel Jones may be the most popular waiver wire add at QB ahead of Week 3 after two consistent performances. Russell Wilson finished as QB2 this past week, and Drake Maye came in behind him with 26.3 fantasy points (FPTS). Bo Nix bounced back; Michael Penix floundered, and the Vikings may regret letting Sam Darnold settle in the Pacific Northwest. This could be a great year for streaming quarterbacks.

*Daniel Jones, IND | 0.35 Expected Points Added Per Dropback (EPA/DB): Jones may not be under 50% rostered for long, but he is right now, and the Colts face the Titans in Week 3. Jones' 9.3 yards per attempt (YPA) and EPA/DB rank third overall among QBs; his completion percentage (Comp%) is above 70%; and he's fantasy's QB2 after two weeks with 26.16 fantasy points per game (FPPG). Both YPA and EPA/DB are highly predictive stats. Jones throws the ball downfield and adds as many points per dropback as Lamar Jackson through two weeks. With a 9% designed rush rate (Designed Rush%) that guarantees yards on the ground and additional touchdown opportunities, the Colts' new QB could very well finish in the top 10 this season.

Drake Maye, NE | 8.3 Designed Rush% in Week 2: In Week 1, Maye, known and drafted for his ability to run, only saw a 1.9% Designed Rush%. However, in Week 2, he saw that number increase to 8.3% (fourth overall). The second-year QB also had a nearly 4-yard increase in YPA, from 6.2 to 11.0. While the Patriots faced a Miami team that could be in the market for a new coach soon, the improvement is still notable, and his fantasy points followed suit, increasing to 26.3 in Week 2 from 14.78 in Week 1. The other massive improvement for Maye came in his Comp%, which jumped over 15% from 65.2% to 82.6%. We now know that Maye can be incredibly successful in the right matchup. In Week 3, Maye faces the Steelers, who rank 23rd in pass coverage and 18th in overall defense (PFF). He should be a solid play next week.

Jared Goff, DET | 11.9 YPA in Week 2: Goff led all quarterbacks in fantasy points, EPA/DB, and YPA, which often go hand in hand. This week, the top 3 quarterbacks in YPA and EPA/DB were the top 3 fantasy producers: Goff, Wilson and Maye. Goff threw for 334 yards and 5 TDs, vastly improving on the 225-yd/1-TD line the week before. Whereas Green Bay's defense looked solid in back-to-back weeks, Chicago is clearly vulnerable to the pass game. Goff will face a formidable Baltimore defense in Week 3 (second overall, according to PFF), but it could turn into a shootout (over/under of 51.5), and the Lions seem to have the rust knocked off.

Jalen Hurts, PHI | 11.10% of attempts 15 or more yards downfield (AttAY15+%): Hurts ranks dead last in the league in AttAY15+%, and it's just as much of a red flag for him as it is A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. The Eagles are winning games, with good game management, thanks partially to a solid running game and a top-tier defense. Hurts has a fine floor due to his rushing ability and the tush push, but 17.91 fantasy points per game clocks in nowhere near his preseason ADP.

Sam Darnold, SEA | -0.16 EPA/DB: Above only Joe Flacco (-0.16), Cam Ward (-0.3) and J.J. McCarthy (-0.52), Darnold is struggling in many categories, but especially in expected points added per dropback. While he wasn't stellar in the category in 2024, he was in the positive (0.06). The Darnold-Minnesota marriage may have ended too soon. Carson Wentz is set to take over for the Vikings in Week 3, after McCarthy suffered an ankle sprain (Wentz could've been close to taking the field regardless), and Darnold isn't having the career year he had under Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell.

Some running back situations are clear after Week 1. Javonte Williams has full command of the Cowboys' backfield, and rookie Jaydon Blue has been inactive for the past two weeks. Chase Brown is the epitome of a bell cow, and Jonathan Taylor is ... good. But, in Seattle, will Zach Charbonnet or Kenneth Walker get more touches most weeks? Commanders RB Austin Ekeler tore his Achilles, ending his season, and Jacory Croskey-Merritt looks primed for increased work. It's too early to make all calls, but usage can help decipher what we've seen so far.

Chuba Hubbard, CAR | 8.9 Yards Per Catch (YPC): Last season, Hubbard caught a healthy 43 passes during a breakout top-15 RB fantasy campaign, but he averaged a historically low 3.98 yards per catch -- no RB with 30-plus receptions had ever dipped below the 4.0 yards per catch mark. This season has seen an about-face for Hubbard as not only is he tied for fifth among RBs in targets (11), but he also ranks seventh at the position in yards per catch (8.9) among those with at least five catches. Hubbard is on pace for 68 catches and 603.5 receiving yards, which would both easily be career highs. He's also scored both his touchdowns this season through the air

Kenneth Walker, SEA | 0.66 Expected Points Added Per Rush (EPA/Rush) in Week 2: Speaking of about-faces... In Week 1, Walker ranked 42nd among 48 running backs with at least five carries in Expected Points Added per Rush. In Week 2, Walker rebounded in a major way, finishing with the second-best EPAperRush mark (0.66), behind only Rams backup Blake Corum (1.01 on his 5 carries). Walker's backfield partner Zach Charbonnet was the one riding the struggle bus this past weekend, as his -0.50 mark was second-worst among RBs (rookie RJ Harvey had a -0.58 mark on 5 carries). For the season, some interesting (read: available on the waiver wire to varying degrees) names have surfaced among the leaders in this stat. The top 8 (min. 10 carries): Walker, Kareem Hunt, Jacory Croskey-Merrit, Javonte Williams, Bhayshul Tuten, Quinshon Judkins, Trey Benson.

Chase Brown, CIN | 95.3% RB Touch Rate (RB Touch%) -- Through two weeks, Brown has handled a whopping 95.3% of Cincy's backfield touches, tops in the league. For comparison's sake, Kyren Williams was last season's leader at 78.8%. But, while his usage has been more than you could have ever hoped for, his efficiency is a major issue. Among qualified rushers, Brown's 2.4 YPC mark is better than only Zach Charbonnet (2.1) and Dylan Sampson (2.2).

Derrick Henry, BAL | 1.97 Yards Before Contact and 4.66 Yards After Contact Per Attempt (YBC/Att, YAC/Att): Last season, Henry, Bucky Irving and Jahmyr Gibbs were the only running backs to finish in the top 10 among qualified rushers in Yards Before Contact per Attempt and Yards After Contact per Attempt. Through two weeks of 2025, Henry finds himself again among only three RBs in the top 10 of both lists, but the names have changed for the other two: Travis Etienne and Jacory Croskey-Merritt. JCM keeps popping up among the leaders of these advanced metrics, which bodes well for his expected increased workload with Austin Ekeler out for the season (Achilles).

Jonathan Taylor, IND | 9.3 Stuff Percentage (Stuff%): Taylor has 43 carries through the first two weeks of the season, most in the NFL. Impressively, he's only been stuffed (held to zero or negative yards) on four of those carries, a lowly 9.3% mark that would rank best among any RB with 15 or more carries. Among RBs with at least 10 carries, that guy JCM rears his head again with a top mark of 7.1% of his 14 carries. Back to Taylor, he also leads the league in carries of at least 5+ yards (16), one ahead of James Cook.

Marvin Mims is a drop with Troy Franklin in The Mile High City, and even Courtland Sutton could be in trouble. Franklin and New York's Wan'Dale Robinson are solid adds ahead of Week 3. If you're in a deep league and need a dart throw, look to Kansas City's Tyquan Thornton, who's one play away from winning a week, though certainly the boom-or-bust type.

*Troy Franklin, DEN | 22.4 TeamTgt%: With a 30% team target rate in Week 2, Franklin finished tied for 10th (with Cooper Kupp) in that metric and put himself firmly atop this week's waiver wire targets. Bo Nix's college teammate at Oregon hauled in 8 of 9 looks for 89 yards and a TD, while adding 11 yards on the ground to give him a nice even 100 yards from scrimmage. Franklin owns a team-high 22.4% target share, besting Courtland Sutton's 19.4% mark. If you hung on to Marvin Mims (9%) after the first week to see if he'd make his presence felt more in Week 2, feel free to cut him loose in favor of Franklin, or maybe this next guy...

*Wan'Dale Robinson, NYG | 4.06 Yards Per Route Run (YPRR) in Week 2: Among WRs with at least 20 routes run in Week 2, Robinson (4.06) had the second most YPRR, behind Amon-Ra St. Brown (4.11). Robinson is one of only 12 receivers with at least 6 targets and 50 receiving yards in each of their first two games. Last season, Robinson was a surprise top 10 at the position in receptions (93), but finished only 36th in PPR scoring due to a meager 7.5 yards per catch. This season, he's averaging nearly double that rate (14.1). At 22% rostered in Yahoo leagues, he and Franklin are the only "still gettable" wideouts currently among the top 12 in PPR scoring on the season.

*Tyquan Thornton, KC | 7 targets of 20+ air yards (AY): A second-round pick of New England in the 2022 NFL Draft, Thornton turned heads with a 4.28 40 at the combine. He failed to make his mark in nearly three seasons with the Patriots and was released in mid-November last season. The Chiefs picked him up shortly thereafter, and he's been with the team ever since. And with the suspension of Rasheed Rice and shoulder injury to Xavier Worthy, Thornton has been seeing plenty of action this season -- 68 routes, 28th at WR. The speedster is tied with Malik Nabers with 7 targets of 20+ air yards. He's caught just two of those attempts -- one of them went for 38 yards in Week 1 against the Chargers, and last week he found pay dirt on a 49-yard reception. His other two receptions managed a combined 13 yards, but he's one of only three receivers with at least two catches of 38+ yards this season, joining Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Jameson Williams.

Jaguars receivers | negative EPA Per Target (EPA/Target): The lift Liam Coen was supposed to add to the Jacksonville passing game is late in arriving. After the first two weeks, only Carolina's Xavier Leggette (-0.98) has a more negative expected points added per target rate than Jags receivers Brian Thomas (-0.74) and Travis Hunter (-0.72) -- BTJ has caught just 5 of 19 targets. Oddly, despite the second-most drops at the position (3), teammate Dyami Brown has managed to avoid this aerial malaise, as he ranks first among all receivers (min. 10 targets) in EPA/Tar (0.86).

DK Metcalf, PIT | 5.62 Average Depth of Target (aDOT): As our own Michael Salfino has mentioned many times in past columns, there's a sort of Goldilocks zone for aDOT, which is roughly in the range of 9 to 12 yards -- it's where the top fantasy receivers most often land. In his Seattle career, Metcalf lived right in the vicinity of this ideal aDOT range with a career mark of 12.79 -- with his size and deep speed, you'd expect him to land at least a little on the high end. But it's been a different story in Pittsburgh, so far, as his aDOT mark of 5.62 is only higher than DeMario Douglas and Deebo Samuel among receivers who have ran at least 50 routes. Oddly, despite, the significant drop in aDOT, Metcalf's 53.8% Catch% (7 receptions on 13 targets) is easily lower than any of his previous seasons. Metcalf faces the Patriots in Week 3, and they've allowed the second-most receiving yards to the position, and seventh-highest aDOT. It will be interesting to see if Pittsburgh tries to deploy Metcalf in a manner more suited to his particular set of skills this week.

Juwan Johnson kept the good times rolling in Week 2, finishing with 15.90 PPR points on 9 targets and 26.5% of team targets. Tyler Warren looks like the real deal in Indy, and Kyle Pitts may not be a superstar, but he hasn't killed any fantasy lineups yet this year. But where are Evan Engram and T.J. Hockenson? Engram may be a lost cause, but Carson Wentz under center might revive the Vikings TE in Week 3. It certainly couldn't get worse.

*Juwan Johnson, NO | 84 routes, 20 targets: Johnson finished in the top five in PPR points at TE for the second week in a row, and over two weeks, he's secured 26.7% of team targets. Now 44% rostered, this is likely your last chance to secure a player who could finish the season in the top five; Johnson has seen the most targets and run the most routes of any tight end in the NFL. He's second-year QB Spencer Rattler's security blanket, and the two seem to have quite the chemistry. Week 1 was no aberration.

Harold Fannin, CLE | 64 routes, 14 targets: I'm not lazy, using the same stat twice, but Fannin's routes and targets, ranked ninth and fifth, respectively, are particularly impressive given the presence of David Njoku (80 routes, 11 targets). While Njoku has run more routes, his targets are fewer than the rookie's, and Cleveland is clearly interested in having Fannin involved. Fannin's ceiling is a little higher than Njoku's, but if you're in a 2TE league or have a TE-hoarder around, both of Cleveland's tight ends can produce a solid floor any given week with Joe Flacco under center.

Tyler Warren, IND | 25.8 TeamTgt%: Ahead of the season, all signs pointed to rookie Tyler Warren establishing himself as one of the top tight ends in the league, and he's living up to the hype. Trey McBride and Johnson are the only tight ends who've secured more of their team's targets. Warren has also secured 40% of Indy's targets inside the 10-yard line.

*Kyle Pitts, ATL | 22.6 PFF%SnapsWide: If you look at where tight ends line up, you'll see that Kyle Pitts is used in Atlanta's offense much like Brock Bowers in Las Vegas'. While both TEs see the most snaps from the tight end spot, Bowers and Pitts also get a lot of work out wide compared to their TE peers. Lining up out wide for a solid portion of snaps means that these tight ends can see more targets, get a boost to their yards per route run, have red zone upside and may get better matchups.

T.J. Hockenson, MIN | -0.41 EPA/Target: The possibility of something new with Carson Wentz under center is the only saving grace for Minnesota's tight end, who has 3.35 PPR points per game on 7 total targets with J.J. McCarthy at the helm. Hockenson hasn't found a way to turn his targets into anything positive, but that could also be partially due to the rookie QB's abysmal play.

Evan Engram, DEN | 9.0 TeamTgt%: No tight end can be productive with 9% of his team's targets. Plus, Engram's 36 routes and 6 targets are barely more than backup TE Adam Trautman's 25 routes and 4 targets. Engram is a drop.
