[OSEN=Gil Joon-young Reporter] Toronto Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman (34 years old) dominated through six innings in his World Series debut but was pulled after surrendering two home runs in the seventh.

Gausman started Game 1 of the World Series against the LA Dodgers on the 26th (Korean time) at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, pitching 6⅔ innings with 4 hits allowed (2 home runs), 6 strikeouts, and 3 runs.

In the top of the first, Gausman retired leadoff batters Ohtani Shohei and Mookie Betts on flyouts but allowed a double to Freddie Freeman. He then gave up a one-out RBI single to Will Smith, conceding the first run. Teoscar Hernández struck out swinging.

Gausman cleanly retired the Dodgers' lineup of Max Muncy, Enrique Hernández, and Tommy Edman in the second inning. He again held the top of the order -- Andy Pages, Ohtani, and Betts -- to three batters in the third. In the fourth, when Toronto tied the score at 1-1, he faced Freeman, Smith, and Teoscar Hernández but continued to induce consecutive outs.

In the fifth, Gausman struck out both Muncy and Enrique Hernández. Edman flew out to right field. He again retired Pages, Ohtani, and Betts in order in the sixth.

In the seventh, Gausman caught Freeman on a fly ball to center field but allowed a solo home run to Smith, ending a streak of 17 consecutive batters retired. He struck out Teoscar Hernández swinging but surrendered another solo homer to Muncy and was replaced by Luis García, concluding his outing.

Gausman threw 82 pitches, including 49 fastballs, 29 splitters, and 4 sliders. His fastball reached a top speed of 96.3 mph (155.0 km/h). His splitter had a 62% whiff rate, but his fastball lost velocity in the late innings, leading to the two home runs.

Toronto secured a 11-4 victory in Game 1, taking a 1-0 series lead. However, their offense was stifled by Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto and trailed 1-3 until the top of the seventh.
