Comedian surprised by aged appearance on 'I Live Alone', attributes to marathon training

[OSEN=Jee Min-kyung, reporter] Gian84 expressed surprise at how drastically he has changed compared to three years ago.

The episode of MBC's variety show 'I Live Alone' broadcast on the 19th depicted SHINee Key visiting the National Yeongcheon Patriotic Cemetery to meet his grandparents.

On that day, Key said, "This is where my grandfather and grandmother are," as he visited the National Yeongcheon Patriotic Cemetery. He explained, "My paternal grandfather participated in the Korean War. He was discharged due to injuries. He sustained a gunshot wound to the ankle."

After paying his respects at the gravesite, Key spent time with his mother. Heading to a stationery store with his mother, Key revealed that she still keeps a diary.

A video clip from three years ago showing Key's mother writing a parenting diary was then shown. Upon seeing Gian84 in the old footage, Kokoon exclaimed, "Bro, why were you so young back then?" Park Na-rae agreed, "You shouldn't run marathons," while Jun Hyun-moo teased, "It's the aftermath of running." Gian84 himself conceded, "Just run moderately," eliciting laughter.

Kokoon remarked, "That wasn't that long ago, was it?" Key added, "It's still three years." Gian84 then said, "Running must accelerate aging. I was genuinely surprised."

Previously, on 'I Live Alone,' Gian84 challenged himself to complete a full marathon and has consistently pursued running as a hobby. Recently, he shared on Sean's YouTube channel the reasons behind his running habit.

Gian84 stated, "Marathons are a different world, but I didn't run to excel -- it was for survival. My mental health was poor, and I was taking a lot of medication. As I neared 40, running was the only exercise I stuck with, and the only thing I could do through running was marathons."

Revealing that his panic disorder began at age 31, Gian84 said, "It started the day I began serializing the comic 'The King of Returning to School.' Doctors commonly advised exercise, and running helped my mental health."

He continued, "My physical ailments have diminished, and since I drink much less, the morning suffering has disappeared, which is wonderful. I was nearly dependent on alcohol -- I couldn't sleep without it. I used to drink half a bottle of whiskey a day, finishing a bottle in two days, and over three bottles a week. The surprising part is that as my running distance increased, my alcohol consumption decreased." /mk3244@osen.co.kr
