Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has reportedly flown into Manchester for talks with Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese manager is under increasing pressure at Old Trafford after United endured their worst start to a season in Premier League history. Amorim was the new regime's first appointment in November 2024, replacing Erik ten Hag.

But United fell to a dismal 15th placed finish in the league last season, enduring their worst campaign since they were relegated in 1974. And Amorim has done little to convince that United's issues last season have been corrected.

As per the Athletic, Ratcliffe flew in on a helicopter for meetings at the club's Manchester base, including with the under-pressure head coach.

Insiders have insisted that the meeting with Amorim had been planned for a long time instead of being crisis talks. However, United's miserable start to the new season will no doubt be on Ratcliffe's mind after backing his manager with over £215million in the transfer window.

Amorim welcomed a new front three, with Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko all arriving at the club this season.

But it's been far from an easy start to life with the Brazilian suffering an injury against Burnley and Sesko being eased into the demands of English football. It was reported earlier this week that Amorim faces a critical three-game period that could determine his job.

United have managed just four points from four games in the league so far this season and were embarrassingly knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Grimsby last month.

Amorim has won just eight games in his 31 league matches at the helm, with senior players reportedly losing confidence in the 40-year-old.

It's understood that the team's position will be evaluated after the next three games. United host Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday before travelling to Brentford and a home game against Sunderland before the international break.

Despite this, United insist that Amorim has the full support of the board and there are no plans for a replacement.
