NFL Week 9 has 14 games with four teams on bye, two of them major NFC contenders. But there's one game that, at first glance, blinds the rest of the action: an AFC Championship Game rematch with the Kansas City Chiefs at the Buffalo Bills on Sunday afternoon. (Not even in primetime!?)

The game is a near pick'em, with the Chiefs 1-point road favorites over the Bills. The Bills are 5-2 against the Chiefs' 4-3 (pending KC's Monday night game against Washington), but the vibes are perhaps the opposite for each team: The Chiefs are 4-1 in their last five games and looking every bit like a Super Bowl team, while the Bills are 3-2 over their last five games and have looked more vulnerable than they started out.

But consider this: Over the past four seasons, the Bills have won their regular-season matchup against the Chiefs only to lose to them in three of those playoffs (in one, they lost to Cincinnati). Not to veer into magical thinking and say a loss in the regular season means a win in the postseason, but it's hard to beat the same team twice.

That matchup -- and its significance to the league -- feels familiar. But, as The Athletic's Zak Keefer pointed out, the picture around the rest of the leagues looks like a photograph from the recent past: Namely, 2014's dominance of the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos.

The Patriots are 6-2 and 5.5-point favorites over the baffling Atlanta Falcons; the Colts are a league-best 7-1 and 3-point favorites over the Pittsburgh Steelers; and the Broncos are 6-2 and 1.5-point favorites over the rising Houston Texans. Denver and New England are on five-game winning streaks, while the Colts are on a four-game streak, with their single loss coming to the Rams in Week 4.

Will Week 9 play spoiler for any of these unexpectedly hot teams? The Colts and Broncos certainly face seemingly tougher tests.

While Chiefs-Bills is the closest spread of the week, two other games are nearly as close: the above-mentioned Broncos -1.5 at Texans and Chicago Bears -1.5 at Cincinnati Bengals -- a tough look for the Bears, who are now 4-3 after a loss to the Lamar Jackson-less Ravens.

Several games this week have a point spread of around a field goal, but five are over a touchdown:

The highest total goes to the Monday Night Football game, Arizona Cardinals at Dallas Cowboys (53.5), though Bears at Bengals is just a smidge behind (53). The lowest total, and the only one below 40, is Broncos at Texans (39.5) as two of the best defenses in the league face off.
