Thierry Henry has confessed he gets "annoyed" when people start drawing comparisons between Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland.

Isak, 25, completed a dramatic deadline day switch to Anfield for a whopping £125million, following an intense transfer battle with Newcastle United.

With such a hefty British-record price tag attached to his name, football fans and experts are all wondering how he'll get on at his new stomping ground.

But Arsenal legend Henry has revealed he gets properly wound up when quizzed about how the adaptable striker stacks up against traditional goal-getters.

During a chat on CBS Sports Golazo, Micah Richards declared his view that Isak currently ranks as the Premier League's finest striker - barring Manchester City sensation Haaland - before diving into what makes him special, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Jamie Carragher then put Henry on the spot, asking which of the pair he'd pick. But the Frenchman, taking a moment to think through his response, made it clear he wasn't interested in pitting two vastly different footballers against each other.

He responded: "They're different players. There's one guy who can play on the left and the right, and then you have a goal-machine who lives in the box.

"In my day, in a 4-4-2 would have been brilliant to have them both, they're different players. I get annoyed when people compare an in-and-out striker with a guy who moves around.

"You can't compare them because they're two different players."

Isak, a versatile forward who can play on either wing or as a central striker, became a legend at St James' Park, scoring 62 goals in 109 appearances for Newcastle United before transferring to Liverpool on deadline day.

In contrast, Erling Haaland has been a standout performer since joining Manchester City three years ago.

With an impressive tally of 130 goals in 151 appearances for the Blues, he is just one goal away from breaking into the club's top-five all-time scorers, a list that includes Raheem Sterling who netted 131 times during his seven-year spell at the Etihad Stadium.
