These cars deliver the best of both worlds: the soul, style, and raw character of classic cars blended with the performance, comfort, and reliability of modern machines. There's no strict formula for what makes a restomod, either. Some are garage-built passion projects where owners drop modern powertrains into vintage shells, while others are full-blown, coachbuilt masterpieces with entirely new underpinnings and cutting-edge tech. These days, you can even find fully electric restomods that merge old-school looks with zero-emissions performance.

There are a lot of great restomods out there made by seriously passionate companies. They're based on cars from a variety of different eras, and they're meant for a variety of different customers. That makes it a bit difficult to answer the question of what the best restomods on the market in 2025 are. Still, here are 15 that we think are the cream of the crop.

Alfaholics GTA-R

Alfaholics has made a name for itself as one of the best restomod companies out there. Based near Bristol, UK, they exclusively work on classic Alfa Romeos. The GTA-R is one of their full-on restomods they offer, and it's easily one of the best on the market. Based on the 105-series GT, the GTA-R has a 2.1-liter twin-spark inline-4 engine that produces 240 bhp and a close-ratio 5-speed manual transmission.

The suspension and brakes are also given a significant upgrade from the original car, and the rear axle gets a limited-slip differential, and lightweight titanium and carbon-fibre components are used throughout. Thanks to all those weight reduction efforts, the GTA-R weighs as little as around 1,830 lbs.

Porsche 911 Reimagined By Singer

You can't have a list of the best restomods on the market without mentioning Singer's re-imagining of the classic Porsche 911. It's become the gold standard of sports car restomods, and every time Singer does something new with the 911 platform, people pay attention. Singer's version of the 911 Carrera Coupe has a 414 hp 4-liter flat-6 and a 6-speed manual transmission, and has carbon ceramic brakes and carbon-fiber bodywork. Other Singer 911s have power outputs as high as 510 hp, making it a car that can legitimately worry modern supercars!

Alfaholics Super-R

Alfaholics won't just sell you the ultimate version of the 105-series coupe. It also gives the Giulia Berlina sedan the same treatment! Known as the Super-R, this more family-friendly restomod has the same 240 bhp engine and 5-speed manual transmission as the GTA-R. It also has the same suspension, brake, and differential upgrades, and the same levels of weight-saving. That brings the Super-R's weight to under 1958 lbs, giving it what could be one of the best power-to-weight ratios of any sports sedan you can get anywhere.

Bentley By Lunaz

Based in Britain, Lunaz specializes in restomodding classic British cars into futureproofed, fully-electric machines. One of the cars they'll happily convert for customers is the Bentley S1. You can have the re-engineered Lunaz Bentley in either 2-door or 4-door form, and Lunaz went to great detail to preserve the original car's look and feel as much as possible. That means all the modern systems are hidden to make them look like they're part of the original vintage car. At first glance, you wouldn't know anything was different from a standard Bentley.

Built By Legends Skyline

The R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R is one of the most celebrated Japanese sports cars of all time. It's also a bona fide future classic. It's not surprising, then, that a restomod version of it has already popped up! This is made by Japanese company Built By Legends, and each one takes a full year to build. The legendary 2.6-liter twin-turbocharged inline-6 gets a thorough reworking to put out 650 bhp, it has a "heavy-duty" Getrag 6-speed manual transmission, and the brakes are much more powerful than what it got as standard.

David Brown Mini eMastered

David Brown Automotive isn't a company that exclusively deals in restomods. Its most well-known product is the Speedback GT, a Jaguar-based grand tourer styled to look like a modernized version of a classic Aston Martin. But, David Brown Automotive has also made a reputation for its 'remastered' versions of the original Mini.

The coolest variant of those remastered Minis has to be the eMastered version. This swaps out the internal combustion engine used in the other David Brown remastered Minis for a fully-electric powertrain. It's quoted as having a 0-62 time of 8.5 seconds and a range of 110 miles. While those figures don't sound that impressive at first, the Mini eMastered is supposed to be a city car. So, that short range isn't the worst thing in the world, and its acceleration still makes it nippy on the streets of a modern city.

Icon FJ

US-based Icon has made a name for itself for its incredible restomods. That all started off with old Toyota Land Cruisers. The Icon FJ is the Icon-ified version of the FJ-generation Land Cruiser. It massively improves over the original car in many aspects. This includes the original engine being replaced by a 6.2-liter LS engine from General Motors.

For transmissions, you get a choice of either a 5-speed manual made by Aisin-Warner or a 5-speed automatic made by General Motors. Every other mechanical and electronic part of the car is also replaced and upgraded to modern standards. The modern electrical systems in particular allow the Icon FJ to have a suite of up-to-date components, including modern lights and a smartphone-controlled sound system.

Icon BR (V8-Powered Ford Bronco)

The second of Icon's restomods on this list, the BR is an Icon-treated version of the classic Ford Bronco. Like the FJ, every mechanical and electrical aspect of the BR has been changed and updated to modern standards. ICE-powered examples use a 5-liter Ford Coyote V8, mated to a choice of either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic with overdrive. The super-limited (so far, since the initial run of 10 is to test whether the market's receptive to the idea) electric version has a modified Tesla powertrain that gives it around 500 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque.

Whichever version of the BR you go for, you're getting a fantastic re-imagining of a beloved American classic. While most enthusiasts will likely prefer the fantastic Coyote V8, there's definitely something in the more refined yet almost terrifyingly powerful electric version.

Icon TR (Chevrolet "Thriftmaster")

The TR is Icon's third main model in its restomod offerings. Based on the classic Chevrolet "Thriftmaster" Advance Design pick-up trucks, the Icon treatment gives the TR the same 6.2-liter LS V8 that Icon uses in the FJ. It's got similar transmission options to the FJ too, with a choice between a 5-speed manual made by Tremec and the same General Motors 5-speed automatic offered in the FJ.

Kingsley Range Rover KSR

The first of two restomods of the Range Rover Classic on this list, the Kingsley Range Rover KSR is the latest iteration of something the UK-based company's been doing since 2001. The standard powertrain option for the KSR is a 4.6-liter 'high-torque' V8, mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. That can be upgraded to a bigger Chevrolet LS engine and a 6-speed transmission if you want more power, though. The mechanical changes don't stop with that, as it's got Kingsley's more powerful big brake kit upgrade and an ultra-modern, fully-electronic suspension system with active dampers as standard. The interior has been completely re-done, too so it can have all the modern conveniences you could want. This includes top-end infotainment and a modern air-conditioning system.
