Seven agencies, 54 systems affected; Ministry of Science and ICT accounts for 84% of confirmed losses

Observations have emerged that the damage caused by the fire at the National Information Resources Service (hereinafter referred to as NIRS) is estimated to be at least 9.5 billion won.

According to data submitted by Cha Gyu-geun, a Rebuilding Korea Party lawmaker affiliated with the National Assembly's Planning and Finance Committee, following a request to the National Assembly Budget Office, the estimated damage for seven government agencies and 54 systems amounted to a total of 9.545 billion won.

The Ministry of Science and ICT's Postal Service Headquarters reported damages totaling 7.966 billion won across 34 systems, including postal information search and stamp portal systems. This accounts for 84% of the currently confirmed damage estimates.

The National Fire Agency estimated damages of 710 million won related to the operation of the '119 Emergency Medical Smart System,' a casualty management system, and the 'Emergency Medical Activity Information Hospital Provision System,' which shares patient information.

The Ministry of Education projected losses of 315 million won and 353 million won, respectively, related to the operation of the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) and the Korean History Ability Test.

The Office for Government Policy Coordination assessed damages totaling 98 million won across seven systems, including the Counterterrorism Center website, Tax Tribunal Information System, and Government Business Evaluation Portal.

Additionally, the Ministry of Data and Statistics estimated damages of 67 million won, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism 28 million won, and the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission 9 million won.

Lawmaker Cha stated, "While the estimated damage from the NIRS fire currently confirmed is around 10 billion won, the total will likely exceed this figure once damages from unconfirmed agencies are included," adding, "The government should do its utmost to restore services and prepare measures to prevent fire damage."
