PETALING JAYA: The Budi95 usage eligibility for full-time e-hailing drivers has been doubled from 300l to 600l per month, says the Finance Ministry.

In a statement Monday (Oct 13), the ministry said this was part of ongoing improvements for the Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95).

"For full-time e-hailing drivers, we have cross-checked data with the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), that more than 53,900 individuals will now benefit from the increased quota of 600l monthly," the ministry said.

The ministry also said that the Budi95 fuel subsidy is now extended to registered boat operators in Sarawak after giving the eligibility to boat users in Sabah, who are registered under the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM), last week.

"Based on data obtained from the Sarawak Rivers Board and related state agencies, the ministry has activated Budi95 eligibility for over 1,400 registered private boat users in the state," the ministry said.

It added that over 11,400 new driving licence holders were now eligible for Budi95.

"These include 11,200 new drivers and 260 renewed licences, bringing the total number of Malaysians benefiting from Budi95 to over 16 million," according to the statement.

In a previous report, out of 16 million eligible Malaysians, only 10 million had benefited from the Budi95 subsidy as of 4pm Wednesday (Oct 8), indicating an increase since then.

"The government remains committed to ensuring that this targeted subsidy programme operates smoothly, transparently and continues to deliver direct benefits to the people," the ministry said.

"The ministry, together with relevant agencies, will continue to monitor the implementation of Budi95 and introduce continuous improvements where necessary. The public may refer to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section on the official Budi Madani portal or contact the hotline at 1-300-88-9595 and WhatsApp 03-2631 4595 for further information.

"The portal also features a transaction history function accessible via MyDigital ID to ensure the protection of users' personal data," it added.
